Howard Williams
Chair and Treasurer

Howard graduated from Cambridge University then joined the Civil Service as a specialist in financial matters.  His career was mostly spent in Central London. Howard contributes his extensive knowledge of accountancy and long experience of working within the rules and regulations of the financial field to the work of the BPT.

Lindsay Sheen
Company Secretary

Lindsay holds a BSC Hons and gained her PGCE and AAT at Manchester University. Her experience includes 10 years teaching and heading a number of community development projects. In 2003 she became Cardigan Town Centre Manager, then Guildhall Manager engaging with the Guildhall Restoration Project in 2005. She has been a driving force in developing the Trust for the restoration of Cardigan’s Guildhall and its associated buildings, working on funding for the 1.3 million restoration project.

Julian Orbach Trustee

A graduate of Magdalen College Oxford, Julian is a renowned architectural historian with a special interest in Victorian buildings. He was appointed an honorary member of the Royal Society of Architects in Wales in 2010 in recognition of his work on ‘The Buildings of Wales’. He is author of the ‘Blue Guide to Victorian Buildings in Britain, 1987’ and produced ‘Cardigan Guildhall and Markets, Historic Buildings Appraisal’ for the Trust. Julian has worked with the Victorian Society, CADW and RCAHMW. He is a founder member of the Trust

Martin Davies Trustee

Martin graduated in 1979 with a B.Arch. During the 1990s he worked for the National Trust supervising the restoration of home farm outbuildings at Llanerchaeron and applying conservative repair techniques. He ran the project to create Theatr Mwldan in Cardigan from the remains of the local abbatoir. He is a founder member of the BPT, which was formed to work on the restoration of Cardigan buildings and worked with the Townscape Heritage Initiative. His current work includes alterations and extensions to farmhouses and cottages, often listed.

Dick Evans
Trustee

After graduating with a B Arch in 1967, Dick gained an MSC in Project Management from Reading University in 1996. He spent 20 years as a partner at Alex Gordon’s office in Cardiff, 10yrs at Arup in their Cardiff, Sydney and Singapore offices, working on buildings including Sydney Opera House and Beijing Olympic Pool.

David Llewelyn Owen
Trustee

Now an environmental biologist, David trained as a carpenter and joiner and worked in mainstream construction for many years. He established his business specialising in repairs to old buildings in South and West Wales and taught degree level building conservation students at Swansea University.

Ann Stokoe Trustee

After some years in general office administration Ann gained a Diploma in Management Studies, Cert.Ed and AAT. She has worked as a PA to publicity managers in the printing & publishing field and a trade association in the freight transport industry. During the 1980s she was an Editorial Production Manager at United Magazines in the audio/broadcasting field. She taught marketing, finance and business studies, at FE level. After moving to West Wales she worked on the THI project and spend eight years at Menter Aberteifi first as a Project Officer and then as General Manager for the Guildhall and Market. During that time, she established her own business providing administrative and financial support to local businesses.
