Martin graduated in 1979 with a B.Arch. During the 1990s he worked for the National Trust supervising the restoration of home farm outbuildings at Llanerchaeron and applying conservative repair techniques. He ran the project to create Theatr Mwldan in Cardigan from the remains of the local abbatoir. He is a founder member of the BPT, which was formed to work on the restoration of Cardigan buildings and worked with the Townscape Heritage Initiative. His current work includes alterations and extensions to farmhouses and cottages, often listed.
