The Courtyard would have provided a loading and unloading space away from the main street through the town. It also served as an area for socialising while business was being done and occasionally as a ‘cattle mart’ up to the 1950’s. Work was carried out between 2011 and 2014 to re-pave the space, adding lighting, seating and planters and new archway gates enabling its use as a public space for gatherings and events.
